Image derived from Fuchs et al. 2013, JNM

The main focus of the WSIC lays on the application and development of various imaging modalities. Nevertheless, a verification of imaging data is always needed to further strengthen the image derived datasets. Therefore, the WSIC is also equipped with a state-of-the-art histology lab to perform standard H&E staining and immunohistochemical stainings (e.g. CD31, Ki67). A Nanozoomer system, allows an automatized read-out of slices and digitalized images of the tissue samples.

Furthermore, the imaging data can be supported in-house by various other established ex vivo and in vitro methods like molecular cloning/genome engineering (CRISPR/Cas, TALEs), viral transductions, cell transfections, primary neuron culture, cell culture, qPCR, rtPCR, western blot, ELISA, immunofluorescence, binding Assays, autoradiographic and biodistribution analysis.
