Research interest

My research focuses on the impact of combined immunotherapies using antigen specific T-helper (TA-Th1) cells and immune checkpoint inhibitors.  Since combined immunotherapies have shown to be advantageous in fighting tumor cells compared to single treatments, further investigations are necessary to understand the mechanisms through which these anti-tumoral effects take place. This will in turn allow improvements in the efficacy of the therapy.

Imaging modalities like positron emission tomography (PET) enable longitudinal and non-invasive in vivo tracking of cell populations. Using reporter genes allows us to radiolabel specific cell populations and track their behavior in experimental therapeutic setups.  These experiments allow us to gain deeper insight into the complex interplay between the immune system, the tumor and its microenvironment.
