The focus of my research is mainly on the evaluation and standardization of small animal PET, CT and SPECT scanners. Small animal imaging enables the determination of a variety of different in vivo parameters e.g. different receptor expression patterns, or physiological pathways in basic biomedical research of diseases. Especially for preclinical systems it is important to yield high spatial resolution and high sensitivity in order to accurately display and quantify the in vivo tracer distribution. The reproducibility and significance of the acquired data is however strongly dependent on standardized imaging protocols. Therefore, part of my research is focused on multi-center standardization studies to enhance the reproducibility of the scientific results.
