Prof. Bernd Pichler honored with ESMI Award 2025
Congratulations to Bernd Pichler, Director of Werner Siemens Imaging Center for receiving the 2025 ESMI Award!
Prof. Pichler was award the highest honor given by the European Society for Molecular Imaging (ESMI).
The award was presented to him during the 20th Annual Meeting of ESMI in Bilbao by the chair of the award selection committee Kevin Brindle.
Prof. Pichler receives the ESMI Award for his pioneering work in the development of preclinical and clinical PET/MRI devices, for his work on innovative imaging probes for use in oncology, immunology and neurology, and for his dedication, passion and tireless advocacy for cross-field collaboration.
His research is dedicated to the development of novel imaging technologies for research and clinical applications. His work focuses on interdisciplinary basic research in biomedicine using state-of-the-art imaging technologies, including research areas such as oncology, neurology, cardiology and immunology. His work bridges the gap between biomedical research and non-invasive in vivo imaging. He was instrumental in the development of an imaging technique that combines positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in one device (PET/MRI).
