Research interest

An estimated 7 to 10 million people worldwide have Parkinson’s disease (PD), a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by loss of dopaminergic neurons and the presence of α-synuclein inclusions. While PET imaging of α-synuclein appears to be promising for improving PD diagnosis and facilitating development of potential disease-modifying treatments, there is currently no validated PET radiotracer available for these protein aggregates. Therefore, my research focuses on developing assays to evaluate and validate PET tracers selective to α-synuclein. A successful tracer will contribute to filling this unmet clinical need and improving the outlook of PD patients.
