Research interest

Combined Viro-Immunotherapy is a promising approach in cancer treatment using oncolytic properties of genetically modified viruses and the potency of the immune system targeting tumor cells. Here, oncolytic viruses are applied to directly attack tumor cells while simultaneously boosting the immune response. Combining oncolytic viruses with different strategies like immune checkpoint inhibition (i.e. PD-L1 or LAG-3), whole-body irradiation and the administration of tumor antigen-specific T-cells reveals a promising approach to overcome treatment resistance in tumor cells.
Therefore, my research aims to further investigate the interplay between oncolytic viruses, immune cells, and the tumor microenvironment to enhance therapeutic efficacy.
