Research interest

Main Interest of my research is 1) the development of novel innovative multimodal holistic imaging methods to follow the temporal dynamics of antigen-specific T cells (and other leucocyte populations) and to uncover their migration, homing and activation sites non-invasively in vivo in mice diseased with carcinomas or T cell mediated delayed hypersensitivity reactions (DTHR; such as contact allergy and autoimmune diseases); 2) The development of new highly advanced combined immune therapies for mice with progressed solid cancers: combining tumor-antigen specific T cells, different combinations of immune-checkpoint inhibitors (CTLA-4, PD-1, PDL-1; PDL-2, LAG-3, TIM-3), whole body/fractionated radiation and different immune modulating agents. Moreover, to identify responders (carcinoma bearing mice as well as cancer patients) by holistic non invasive in vivo imaging focusing on the metabolism of secondary and tertiary lymphatic organs; 3) Non invasive in vivo imaging of the temporal and spatial dynamics of reactive oxygen species (ROS) expression and NF-kB activation during T cell mediated acute and chronic cutaneous DTHR to uncover how ROS translates into NF-kB activation and to understand the molecular processes involved in chronic inflammatory immune responses which are responsible for cancer development (such as NASH-HCC).
