Research interest

My main research interest lies at the intersection of high energy physics and computer science. The diversity of research topics in this area is also reflected in my work, including Monte Carlo simulation studies for PET-inserts for breast PET/MR imaging using Geant4, GATE and CASToR (for image reconstruction) in medical imaging. In high energy astrophysics, my work includes Monte Carlo simulation studies of the particle background of several astrophysical space based X-ray detectors using Geant4, and the development of highly automated cross-calibration pipelines, allowing to derive calibration updates based on large observation samples for the EPIC instruments on board the XMM-Newton satellite.
