Research interest
Imaging technologies in combination with advanced behavioural research open up the possibility to visualize neuropathological changes that are obvious in e.g. Parkinsonism, amnesia, Huntington's or schizophrenia before the onset of physiological symptoms. This observation implicates a strong association between clinical apparent impairments in the behaviour of patients and the accompanying neuropathology. These impairments are mostly induced by a progressive loss of neuronal interactions in the brain. Therefore the focus of my work is to visualize different pathophysiologies of neurodegeneration by combining imaging and behaviour finally leading to an improved and comprehensive diagnosis of various clinically relevant neurodegenerative diseases.
